Prince Charles' favorite food is ‘Groussaka’ a special version of Moussaka

Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, has unveiled his favourite meal is his own special version of the popular Greek dish, Moussaka, which he has named “Groussaka”, greekcitytimes.com reports.

Instead of using lamb, he prepares the classic Greek dish with grouse, a pricey game bird native to Scotland and North America, which he describes as “delicious”.

The heir to the throne made the statement in the latest edition of the People’s Publication, Country Life, which he edited to celebrate his milestone 70th birthday.

“I invented a grouse one recently, coq au vin with grouse, as well as moussaka with grouse. It doesn’t always have to be lamb – in other words, Groussaka!” the Prince noted.

The exact recipe was not revealed in the publication, nevertheless, it would be similar to the technique of the Greek traditional Moussaka, with one ingredient swapped.

Grouse is not a meat to be found in the supermarket, as shooting the wild birds could cost around £10,000 per shot.

Charles also revealed his second favourite meal which is a dessert – the pheasant crumble pie.

Royal fans have taken to Twitter to express their reactions of the intriguing dish and word, with one follower saying they they think, “we should have a referendum on whether the word ‘Groussaka’ should be officially included in the English language” and another commenting, “Prince Charles’ food taste is so out of reach of ordinary folk that even Google search can’t predict ‘moussaka with grouse’ when you’ve typed the entire search term #groussaka”.
