Greek chefs win bronze medal in culinary Olympics 2020

A team of Greek chefs won the bronze medal in the category “Community Catering” at the IKA/Culinary Olympics 2020, currently taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, according to greekreporter.com.

The Chef’s Club of Northern Greece presented seven dishes inspired by the Macedonian gastronomic tradition, including zucchini and herb pie, a local fish dish, yogurt with honey, and jam with raspberries and beetroot.

“The Clubs that participated in this great event for the first time in their history presented unique dishes from Macedonian cuisine, highlighting the region’s gastronomy, products, history and culture,” team manager Christos Gotsis said in a statement made following the awards presentation.

The IKA/Culinary Olympics is the oldest, largest and most diverse international culinary arts competition in the globe.

Over 200 chefs, pastry chefs, and individual exhibitors challenged each other in different culinary competitions within the Olympics. Using their passion for great food, teams of professional chefs worked on creating the perfect interaction of ingredients, along with skillful preparation and presentation.

Many new culinary trends have been created during the 100 years that the Olympics has held its worldwide contests.

The North Greek Chefs Club took part in the 2020 Olympic Culinary Games in cooperation with the Region of Central Macedonia and the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia and with the support of private sponsors.

Team Manager Gotsis expressed his pleasure at the impressive results of the Greek chefs in the event, noting “We thank the Region, the Fund and the Sponsors. I especially thank my team.”
