Greek International Food Market satisfies demand for Virtual Experiences

WEST ROXBURY, MA – The Greek International Food Market located in West Roxbury is more than a specialty food importer now that the COVID-19 pandemic has derailed many plans for Greek vacations this summer.

According to Patch.com, “the physical and online stores are compensating for postponed Greek vacations, and bringing adventure to everyday life at home.”

“From lingering over sweetbreads, figs and homemade jam, to savoring a refreshing snack of watermelon, feta, and basil, a Greek vacation is a delicious culinary experience. Our customers want to replicate its unique pleasures wherever they are in the world,” said Katerina Iliades, the market’s founder, Patch reported.

“My husband and I got married in Crete, and we had planned to celebrate our anniversary with our families in Greece and Turkey. Instead, we had a Zoom reunion, with foods from the market adding joy to the day,” said Jacqueline (Jackie) Chambers, Patch reported.

“Since opening 10 years ago, the Greek International Food Market has become a national go-to destination for foodies and people who love the Mediterranean way of life,” Patch reported, adding that “these customers are now returning to make life during the pandemic richer and sweeter.”

“One shopper surprised a friend with a 40th birthday Sliver of Greece gift basket, when the friend had to delay her travels there,” Patch reported, adding that “a Boston area customer, originally from Jamaica, sent a gift box to her father in the Dominican Republic, hoping to cheer him up despite his inability to visit Greece this year.

Many customers are also stocking up on special foods, wine, and beer for online Greek parties.

The Greek International Food Market, 5204 Washington Street in West Roxbury, is open Monday-Saturday, 10 AM-6 PM.

Customers outside of Massachusetts may order online: https://www.madfeta.com/.
