Minister pledges support for Cyprus halloumi cheese

Cypriot Minister of Agriculture Costas Kadis said on Thursday that he will protect and promote Cyprus’ halloumi, a traditional cheese registered as a protected designation of origin. He described the product as Cyprus’ precious wealth that has lived on for generations.

Halloumi or haloumi (Greek: Χαλλούμι) is a semi-hard, unripened cheese made from a mixture of goat’s and sheep’s milk, and sometimes also cow’s milk.
