“Cretan Gastronomy Week” in Vienna

“Cretan Gastronomy Week” in Vienna is organized by the Region of Crete and the Educational Development PLOIGOS, in collaboration with the Greek Embassy in Austria. The event will take place at the United Nations in Vienna from 24 to 28 March 2025.

The aim of this initiative is to highlight the “Cretan Food Culture” in the international multicultural environment (executives-diplomats) of the United Nations and the internationalization of its content, as it is planned to prepare 30 different Cretan dishes in the kitchen of the “Vienna International Center” (VIC) and consume at least 2,000 daily meals (a total of 10,000 meals), during the above period.

Through the dissemination of Cretan cuisine, the Region of Crete seeks to showcase the island’s unique gastronomic wealth and highlight its unique nutritional identity, strengthening Crete’s international visibility as a destination of high gastronomic value.

This action is carried out within the framework of the project “Crete European Region of Gastronomy 2026”. The event is held with the collaboration and support of the Chefs Club of Crete (6 chefs are participating in the mission).
