Creation of an olive park with centuries-old olive trees in Rhodes

The competent services of the South Aegean Region have decided to include in the Standard Environmental Commitments the project: “Promotion of the Kleovoulos Olive Grove” in the municipal community of Vati in Rhodes.

The project is managed by KOLOSSOS 2047 SINGLE PERSON S.A. LOCAL GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION.

The project under consideration concerns the creation of an “olive park” for the protection and promotion of the centuries-old olive trees of the area, forming a single fenced and visitable green and recreational area for the citizens.

The individual works concern earthworks, cleaning, removal of vegetation and embankments, construction of a central entrance gate and secondary entrances and exits, construction of a parking lot on the side of the provincial road, construction of a central path and construction of an open-air theater.

According to the decision, the project operator bears full responsibility for compliance with the Standard Environmental Commitments even if part or all of the construction or operation works are carried out by third parties. For any activity or installation that is part of the project, all permits and approvals provided for by applicable legislation must have been secured prior to its implementation and operation.

If approval is required for the project’s traffic connection to the road network, this must be obtained from the competent Technical Service in accordance with applicable legislation. The Project Authority, before the commencement of construction works, must notify the competent Archaeological Services, so that they can supervise the works or as otherwise specified in the consent of the competent Archaeological Service. Any modification or intervention in an existing infrastructure project (e.g., water supply, sewage network, etc.) must be carried out in cooperation with the competent bodies in order to ensure its uninterrupted operation.

In order to avoid the creation of any traffic hazard due to the works being carried out, all necessary measures must be taken in order to promptly and effectively warn pedestrians and drivers of passing vehicles (such as placing appropriate signage visible even during the evening hours, placing personnel as a bystander using red flags during the works, etc.).
