Three Greek restaurants won coveted titles at the World Culinary Awards 2025, the gastronomy section of the leading World Travel Awards that highlight the Best of the Best in global tourism.
The most important distinction in Greece was won by the Atria Restaurant of the One&Only Kea Island hotel, which was honored with the award for the Best New Hotel Restaurant in Europe (Europe’s Best New Hotel Restaurant 2025).
Atria promises gastronomic experiences based on organic, seasonal, handmade ingredients and the warm, relaxed hospitality for which Greece is famous. The menu includes fish from the waters of Kea, meat from selected farmers as well as local herbs and products. It has a view of the Aegean Sea.
Makris Athens by Domes (Greece’s Best Restaurant 2025) and Nectar by Sandblu Santorini (Greece’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2025) were named the best restaurants in Greece.
The 2024 Michelin-awarded Makris Athens, led by chef Petros Dimas, offers fine dining through its degustation menu that highlights the essence of modern Greek cuisine. The interior design has preserved the ancient heritage of the historic building. At the same time, the bar offers special dishes to accompany wine, cocktails and drinks from Makris’s catalog. The signature fine dining concept Makris was born in Corfu and offers Mediterranean gastronomic experiences, in addition to Athens and Corfu, also in Elounda and Milos.
Nectar offers a rich menu with modern Greek cuisine and fresh seafood. A special children’s menu is available, while the experience’s soundtrack is curated by a resident DJ.
The winners of the World Culinary Awards 2025, a global initiative to recognize and reward excellence in the culinary industry, were announced at a ceremony held on Thursday, October 23 in Sardinia.
Among the winners at the VIP reception, hosted at the Forte Village Resort, was Italy’s Le Calandre, which was voted the coveted title of “Best Restaurant in the World,” while the award for “Best Fine Dining Experience in the World” was awarded to Ossiano Restaurant at Atlantis the Palm Dubai.
