Travellers from countries outside the Mediterranean opt vacation destinations in Greece and in Italy, while inhabitants of Mediterranean countries seek holiday spots in their own country, according to a monthly report distributed by www.tripinview.com.
Greece occupies the first place among the preferences of travelers from Britain, Germany, Serbia, Hungary, Russia and the United States, while Italy is the first preference of Scandinavians and especially Swedes.
Brits’ next choices include France and Spain, Germans prefer France, Scandinavians France and Spain and Americans elect France and Turkey.
It is not surprising that the first choices of Greeks, Turks, Italians, French and Spanish are their own countries followed by their closest neighbour.
As far as beaches are concerned, Greeks prefer Andros, Anafi, Corfu and Halkidiki, the French choose Cote d’ Azur, Mallorca and Ibiza, the Spanish elect Cadiz, Italians opt Genoa and Sicily and Turks insist on Antalya and Mugla.
Regarding seaside resorts, Rhodes, Cannes, Ibiza and Santorini are favored by German travellers. Brits seem to prefer Kefalonia, Alonissos, Messinia and Barcelona. Travellers from Hungary and Serbia choose the Ionian Islands (Corfu, Cephalonia, Zante, Preveza) as well as Central Macedonia (Chalkidiki, Thasos), while the Americans start from Attica and continue in Milos, Andros or Paxos.
