Greece is the most popular summer vacation destination for Russians this year, according to June booking data from Russian Yandex reservation platform.
Yandex users have made more than 6 million requests for tours in June, 33.5% more than in May and almost equal to last year. The growth compared to June 2015 amounted to less than 1%, according to ATOR Analytical Service.
In June, the number of last minute requests for tours increased by 75.4% compared to May and by 19% compared to June 2015. Almost 20% of all requests for last-minute trips abroad concerned Cyprus, there was also a high last minute demand for Tunisia and last-minute requests for Greece increased by 130%.

In June, Greece rose to first place (+ 59% compared to May 2016 + 81.3% compared to June 2015). As in the previous month, tour operators made a lot of special offers while the minimum cost of the seven-day passes began of 22,000 rubles for two, excluding visa. The average price for two-week tour was 102,000 rubles.
The most popular resorts in the country were the island of Crete, Rhodes and Corfu and most tourists searched for “all inclusive”.
Highest demand for Greece came from for people living in Kaliningrad (237% / 917 p.), Moscow (206% / 47 095 n.) and Leningrad (189% / 13 713 p.)
Among the most frequently requested tour operators in the country were “Biblio Globus” , “Mouzenidis Travel” , “Pegasus Tour”, “Tez Tour” and “Coral Travel”.
Cyprus ranked 2nd in demand followed by Tunisia, Abkhazia, Bulgaria, Thailand, Montenegro, Spain, Italy and Vietnam.
