German leading tour operator TUI published a list of the most popular destinations for its European customers during this holiday season of Christmas and the New Year.
Greece is absent from the list of top destinations, while a strong tendency for holidays in exotic and distant destinations is evident.
Canary Islands are very popular as usual while fluctuations between different European countries are recorded.
According to the relevant map, exotic destinations such as the Gambia and Sri Lanka are particularly popular with Northern Europeans, while idyllic, sun drenched islands are particularly attractive to travelers from countries that are tormented by bad weather, rain and snow during this time of the year:
