Greece shone at the 10th National Travel Industry Awards that was held at the International Convention Centre, at Darling Harbour in Sydney on Saturday, according to a Neos Kosmos report.
This year’s Gala Dinner was attended by more than 2,000 industry professionals. “Long live the travel agent,” exclaimed the Australian Federation of Travel Agents chief Jayson Westbury welcoming guests to the industry’s premier event, which recognises and rewards excellence in the Australian travel industry.
This year’s entertainment at the AFTA NTIA was provided by popstar Rickie-Lee, but also by a group of traditional dancers from the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney. It was part of a special celebration of Greece as a “fantastic tourist destination, that any Australian should visit,” according to Mr Westbury, pointing out that more than 30 million tourists will visit Greece in the following 12 months, the Neos Kosmos report notes.
“We are very happy to be part of this significant event,” stressed Dr. Stavros Kyrimis, Greece’s Consul-General in Sydney. “Greece is a small country with a big embrace.”
