The hidden gems of Lefkada were discovered by Griekenland.net in June. Not only the beaches are highlighted but also some traditional restaurants and the wines and Rosoli liquor of the Ioanian island. On invitation of mr. Galiatsatos (Ionian Islands Region Vice Governor) and with support of mr. Zampelis of the tourism department two journalists travelled over the green Greek island. Griekenland.net has online yearly 1.7 million visitors and is publisher of KALA magazine in The Netherlands.
Local cuisine and liquor in Lefkada town
Most tourists choose destinations as Nidri and Vassiliki for their holidays. They forget the capital Lefkada town. Sailors know the marina very well and the city has many facilities for tourists. “We liked the local food “mezzedes” of Gogo’s flavors on the main street of the town and enjoyed the visit at the Rosoli distillery in the center. After dinner its nice to walk down the boulevard with many bars” according to Bas Wanrooij from Griekenland.net.
Beaches and wine
Not only the popular beaches like Porto Katsiki, Egremni and Milos beach are worth a visit. Also hidden gems like Agiofili, Ammoglossa and Megali Petra are highly recommended for a day at the beach. Local wineries of Lefkas Earth and Karsanikos were visited to taste local white and red wines.
