Turks flock to Ataturk museum in Thessaloniki 79 years after his death

Hundreds of Turkish visitors flocked to the parental home of Kemal Ataturk, now a museum within the consulate in Greece’s northern port city of Thessaloniki, to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the death of the founder of modern Turkey.

About 30 busses transporting Turkish tourists arrived to the museum early on Friday. Most of the visitors are expected to stay in Thessaloniki over the weekend.

Kemal Ataturk died on November 10, 1938 in Istanbul.
