Data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Wednesday showed that 61.6% of the 563.651 tourists who came to Cyprus last August were visiting the island for the first time and 38.4% had visited the island twice or more times in the past.
The Statistical Service announced that 35.6% of the tourists chose Paphos or Polis Chrysochous for their stay, 15.1% chose Paralimni, 21.5% chose Agia Napa, 10.1% chose Limassol, 10.3% stayed in Larnaca, 2.7% in Nicosia and 4.7% in other locations.
Moreover, 52.9% of the tourists stayed in hotels, 19.3% in apartments and tourist villages, 10.5% were accommodated by friends and relatives, 2.3% stayed in a private house and 15% in other places.
The Statistical Service reported that 64.9% of the tourists visited the island in August 2017 through organised tours.
