The percentage of Britons over 50 who spend more than £ 3,000 a year on holiday is declining, according to the Silver Travel Advisor survey that took place in October.
The percentage dropped to 40% from 48% in the previous year.
The percentage of those who spend more than £ 5,000 also shrunk to 13% from 24%, the survey found one year ago.
Instead, the percentage of Britons who spent between £ 1,000-2,999 per person for their holidays in 2017 rose to 45%, from 41% in 2016.
However, 85% of surveyed respondents said they planned to make the same number of trips or even more within the next 12 months.
More than three out of four (77%) also said that price was the least important factor when choosing holidays.
The Silver Travel report also found that older people are increasingly turning to the Internet, with two-thirds (67% ) of respondents researching or making online reservations, from 61% last year.
Almost one-third (31%) opts for a travel agent.
Finally, 50% mentioned mobility problems, due to lack of special facilities for people with disabilities in various destinations.
