The Greek island of Ios has recently expanded to new markets with the view to increasing tourism flows, the president of the municipality’s tourism committee Angela Fakou told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
Apart from the tourism exhibitions in which Ios traditionally takes part, such as London and Berlin, Fakou said the island will also be present at this year’s exhibitions in Milan, Sweden, Brussels and Belgrade and possibly those in Dubai and the US as well.
Bookings for the peak summer season are already approaching capacity, the island has also expanded to sports tourism and cultural tourism and a seminar on tourism will be organised on the island in April.
