Report: Greek-Canadians of Patras city celebrate 40 years of friendship

Almost four decades of Greek/Canadian friendship were celebrated recently in the Greek city of Patras.

A great turnout greeted the Greek-Canadian League of Patras’ annual traditional Vasilopita-cutting event this week.

The event, which took place at the Astir Hotel, was attended by members and friends of the Greek-Canadian League of Patras and was addressed by the organization’s president, Odysseas Xerizotis.

He gave an account of the past year and noted a new generation of Greek immigrants to Canada gave the league the strength to continue.

An honorary plaque for his many years of exceptional service was awarded to Theodoros Kebe.

The event was also a good opportunity for Greek-Canadians to meet members of the Canadian Embassy who discussed consular issues. Stephen El Azab, Counsellor (Administration) & Consul, and other consular staff from the Canadian Embassy in Athens, took part, answering questions.
