Economic collaboration projects and direct flights between Istanbul and Crete were discussed at a meeting of the regional governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, and Turkish Consul General in Greece Oya Yazar, in Iraklio, Crete on Thursday, ANA reports.
“As a region, we want to strengthen our relations with Turkey in tourism and link our island with direct flights, and collaborate in cultural issues, because culture unites people,” the governor noted, adding that Greeks wanted peace to prevail among the two countries, so that collaboration could become stronger.
Yazar pointed out that she had “scheduled this meeting a long time ago, in order to meet local authorities,” adding that Turkey wants to have openness in joint projects. “The options of flights between Crete and Istanbul will be examined,” she added.
