Road Tourism: Turks driving into Greece up 14% in Q1 2018

The number of Turks crossing into Greece by road rose 14% in the first three months of the year, with growth coming mostly from Istanbul residents, showed data on Monday from the Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Thrace, according to ANA.

“Just about 126,500 Turks, 15,787 more than the first quarter of 2017, visited our country in this period. At a time where there was a spike in Turkish aggression with ties between the two nations tense and a negative environment in the neighbouring country’s economy, with the Turkish lira collapsing and the exchange rate with the euro dropping to historical lows,” announced the president of the Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Thrace, Costas Hatzimichael.
