Tourism revenue drops by 5.8% in Cyprus during May

Revenue from tourism in May declined by 5.8% or €17.1 million (mn) exceeding the percentage drop of 3.5% in tourist arrivals, CNA reports.

According to numbers released on Friday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus revenue from tourism reached €277.6 mn in May 2019 compared to €294.7 mn in the respective month of the previous year.

For the period of January – May 2019 revenue from tourism is calculated at €652.8 mn compared to €677.2 mn in the corresponding period of 2018, recording a decrease of 3.6%.

The expenditure per person for May 2019 dropped to €638.78 compared to €654.14 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 2.3%.
