“The last 10 years have been very difficult for Greece. The financial and economic collapse was averted by imposing very harsh measures on Greek citizens. I would like to congratulate all the Greeks because they succeeded in reversing the trend and Greece is on the way to recovery. It is pleasant that this year’s financial and budgetary figures are good, but the measures must be sustainable,” the Austrian Ambassador in Athens Hermine Poppeller noted at a reception held at the Goulandris Museum Gaia Centre, in her speech for the national anniversary of Austrian Independence and Neutrality, according to ANA.
“The digital ‘offensive’ that has been announced can offer great services in reducing bureaucracy, in order to create a more efficient state. Developments on the level of bilateral trade are pleasing to both sides and the presence of the Austrian economy in Greece is expected to be greater,” Poppeller pointed out at the event, which was held on Wednesday. “Developments in the tourism sector are also very welcome. More than half a million Austrians, who know how to appreciate your beautiful landscapes and hospitality, have visited Greece this year and the trend is on the rise,” the new ambassador added.
