“From the first moment of the pandemic, the prime minister, in cooperation with eight other EU leaders, took the initiative to address common problems and, above all, to develop new financial instruments to support the economies and employment in the member-states of the European Union,” government spokesperson Stelios Petsas announced during a press briefing on Thursday, ANA reports.
Petsas said that in view of Friday’s meeting, the prime minister contacted the President of the European Council Charles Michel, reiterated the Greek positions, and underlined that after the end of the summit, European leaders should not return to their countries without a mutually acceptable solution.
He pointed out that “Greece will go to the summit summarising its positions along three axes. To preserve the level of aid proposed by the European Commission. To preserve the ratio of grants to loans proposed by the EU Commission, so that the main body of aid is grants and not loans. That there should be no additional special conditions for assistance through the Recovery Fund, except those already provided for in the treaties and the Stability and Growth Pact.”
As the epidemiological indicators in Sweden are improving, flights from Sweden will be allowed from July 20 instead of July 22, as was originally announced.
