Allaying worries foreign visitors would bring more COVID-19 cases with them when they were allowed into Greece beginning May 15 – with proof of being free of the Coronavirus – Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis said cases have been falling.
During an online event called Tourism and Safety organized by the Citizens Protection Ministry, he said he was satisfied with the indicators showing cases gradually declining although not in a straight line, said Kathimerini.
He said how long the tourism seasons last with improved numbers in the caseload will determine how much of a rebound it brings to an economy brought down hard by lockdowns.
He said he hopes that there won’t be a resurgence of cases that would reverse the progress already being made as people are coming, more than expected, and hopes that the United Kingdom will soon allow its residents to visit Greece.
Visitors to Greece must show proof of being fully vaccinated, have a negative Coronavirus test, or have recovered from the illness.
