Turkish Minister: Russian tourists will be able to pay with Mir cards on vacation

Russian tourists will be able to pay with Mir cards in Turkey, the country’s authorities are working to increase the share of objects accepting such cards, said Minister of Treasury and Finance of the Republic Nureddin Nebati, greekcitytimes.com reports.

“Our expectations for tourism are very good. I believe that the tourist flow to Turkey will exceed 45 million tourists, and the industry will generate $35 billion in revenue.

Traveler spending increases as they stay in the country for a more extended period. Hotel for 2-3 months,” TRT Haber quotes the Minister.

Nebati assured that with the beginning of the tourist season, Russians would have no problems paying for services and goods with bank cards in Turkey due to VISA and Mastercard restrictions.

Turkey has not joined the international sanctions against Russia imposed due to its war on Ukraine.

US payment firms Visa Inc (V.N) and Mastercard Inc (MA.N) suspended operations in Russia over the invasion and announced they would work with clients and partners to cease all transactions there.
