PM: US tourists to arrive on a record number of direct flights to Greece (video)

Greece is back and the Greek economy is on track following the economic crisis that led to rescue programs, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show on Monday, ANA reports.

In an interview before his meeting at the White House, the Greek prime minister was interviewed by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. He spoke about how Greece was getting back on track after a painful ten-year economic crisis and the two-year coronavirus pandemic, to see American companies investing in Greece and tourists from the US expected to arrive on a record number of direct flights to the country.

Greece is a stable partner in a difficult region of the world, and is playing an active role in establishing ties with the Middle East, linking it with Europe, and turning the country into a key energy hub in the region, he noted.

Asked to comment about Turkey’s criticism of Sweden’s and Finland’s plans to join NATO, Mitsotakis said that only the Turkish president could provide the answer. Greece supports the membership of the two North European countries, he added, and he did not foresee serious objections to it. It is not the right time to politicize their prospects of accession to the alliance in order to bargain for other benefits, he underlined and said he expected that the issue will be resolved.
