Greece and Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Fields of Aeronautics and Maritime Search & Rescue in Cairo on Tuesday, ANA reports.
It was signed by Greece’s National Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Egypt’s Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki.
The signing was attended by Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias and Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.
In statements after the signing, Dendias said that the agreement aims to save human lives that are in danger at sea through the cooperation of the two countries authorities. Furthermore, he underlined that the agreement proves once again that the Mediterranean is not now, or ever was, a barrier between Europe, Asia, and Africa. “It is a bridge between the peoples of these three continents,” he added.
