Greece, a holiday and investment destination for Arabs

The tourism advantages of Greece and the quality of services it offers to visitors, as well as the investment possibilities and opportunities in the tourism sector that attract the interest of foreign investors, were presented by the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogiannis at a working meeting at the Embassy Residence of the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was attended, in addition to the host, by the Ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Algeria, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia.

In particular, Ms. Kefalogianni referred to the strategic goal of sustainable tourism development, by extending the tourist season throughout the year and creating new tourist destinations throughout the territory, so that the tourist flow is spread throughout all regions and not concentrated only in limited popular destinations.

She also referred to the multitude of alternative forms of tourism that our country is developing, in order to broaden the range of tourist possibilities and opportunities it offers to visitors. In addition, she highlighted the quality of services in all tourism sectors from hotel infrastructure to catering and transportation, highlighting the role played by tourism education, to which our country attaches great importance and weight.

The Minister spoke in detail about the business and investment opportunities offered by Greece in the tourism sector, noting that its geomorphology allows it to cover the entire spectrum from marine to mountain tourism, in all seasons of the year, which are distinct, thus offering investment opportunities throughout the year, in island, coastal and mountainous areas, such as marinas, ski resorts, lakes, spa destinations and many more.

Finally, Ms. Kefalogianni stressed the importance of cooperation between Greece and the Arab Countries at a multilateral level, particularly in international organizations, where our country has, due to its tourism development, a prominent position and active presence. In this context, her candidacy for re-election to the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization is also included, as is the Greek candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the Organization.

Visas and flights will bring more Arab tourists

From the perspective of the Arab interlocutors, the recognition of the Greek tourism name in their countries and the strong interest in increasing the tourist flow in both directions, as well as in further deepening tourism cooperation in areas of common interest, such as education and sustainable tourism, were highlighted.

In addition, the investment interest that our country shows in the Arab world was confirmed. It was also emphasized that the acceleration and simplification of visa procedures and the promotion of air connections would contribute significantly to the development of tourism between Greece and the Arab countries.

It is recalled that Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni participated in January in the work of the Supreme Council of Greece and Saudi Arabia, where a package of initiatives in the tourism sector was agreed, including exploring the possibility of organizing a joint advertising campaign by airlines to increase tourist demand.
