A double-digit increase in the performance of Greek tourism from Germany is expected in 2025, according to representatives of tour operators and airlines reported in their contacts with the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism and the Hellenic National Tourism Organization during the ITB in Berlin.
Indicatively, double-digit growth rates are recorded in bookings for our country in all major tour operators, such as TUI, the DERTOUR group, and Schauinsland Reisen, as well as in the largest air carriers in Germany, such as Lufthansa, Condor Airlines, and Discover. The Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos, had meetings with their representatives. It is noted that alltours also announced a double-digit increase in bookings for Greece.
A permanent goal of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s leadership, as noted, is the further promotion of Greek destinations that are less known to the German public, but also the promotion of the diversity of the country’s tourist products in already well-known and established destinations.
For this purpose, a special gastronomic event was organized at the GNTO pavilion, aiming to highlight the local tradition of Santorini, Karpathos, the Peloponnese, and Thessaly, as well as a special presentation of the island of Thassos. The German visitors also had the opportunity to enjoy a gastronomic experience of tasting high-quality Greek olive oil, olives, and raisins.
In general, Greece and the GNTO were at the center of international tourist interest at one of the largest tourism fairs in the world, ITB Berlin 2025 (March 4-6), receiving particularly encouraging messages about a new large increase in tourist flows from Germany.
The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, and a delegation of the GNTO, led by Secretary General Andreas Fiorentino, attended the ITB 2025 in Berlin.
The Greek National Tourism Organization participated in the Exhibition with an impressive 1007 sq.m. pavilion and the largest delegation in recent years, consisting of a total of 87 co-exhibitors, including Greek tourism businesses, Regions and Municipalities.
It is recalled that 2024 was another record year for our country, with a significant increase in revenues and arrivals from Germany. It recorded 3.6 billion receipts and over 5 million German tourists, who highlighted Crete as the 3rd most popular holiday destination in Europe.
