The excellent bilateral tourism relations between Greece and Canada were sealed today with the signing, for the first time, of a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the tourism sector by the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, and the Ambassador of Canada to Greece, Ms. Anna-Karine Asselin.
The Memorandum provides for the exchange of data and information on issues such as innovation and digitalization, tourism investments, education and vocational training, best practices in tourism promotion, as well as research and development in the global tourism market and new tourism products and services.
The two countries agreed to focus on the challenges facing the tourism sector due to climate change, exchanging practices and know-how with the aim of strengthening resilience and sustainability for sustainable tourism development.
As emphasized by the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, “the new agreement confirms the will and commitment of Greece and Canada to promote a sustainable and innovative tourism model, strengthening cooperation at the institutional level and creating new opportunities for tourism development.”
