“Never before have so many families booked their trip for next summer immediately after their return – the motto is ‘Relax, Return and Rebook’.”
With these words, TUI Sun & Beach Head of Product Management Steffen Boehnke described the mood in the German holiday market for 2025 to Touristik-aktuell.
Early booking ensures better prices, which is very important for family holidays, as prices are rising in the Germans’ favorite destinations. Even in “cheap” Turkey, prices are higher in the two-month peak summer months of July and August.
Coral Travel CEO Koray Cavdir tells touristik-aktuell:
While demand remains stable, prices have risen again. Spain, Greece, and Croatia are all affected by some significant price increases, while Turkey continues to be seen as the winner in terms of value for money. This year, however, this only applies to the off-peak season: In July and August, prices in Turkey have risen to such an extent that they have simply become unaffordable for some families, he said.
According to tour operator representatives, an adjustment in price to inflation is tolerable. That is why the organizers are consistently relying on long-term contracts to cushion further increases. “Thanks to targeted renegotiations, we are keeping prices within limits,” said Schauinsland director Andreas R?ttgers.
The booking season for the summer of 2025, however, is in full swing, and family trips are experiencing a real boom. Many tour operators, including TUI, Dertour, Alltours, Schauinsland-Reisen, Anex Tour, and Coral Travel, are reporting double-digit growth rates. Classic Mediterranean destinations such as Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and the Spanish islands are in particular demand.
