Central Macedonia a top destination for Bulgarian tourists

The Region of Central Macedonia participated in the 41st International Tourism Exhibition “Holiday & Spa Expo 2025”, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, the Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization and the Halkidiki Tourism Organization.

Central Macedonia is an extremely popular destination for Bulgarian visitors, who, due to its proximity, travel to the region many times throughout the year, especially in the summer.

In addition to Halkidiki, the Olympic Riviera and the tourist resorts of the Strymonikos Gulf – Asprovalta and Nea Vrasna – Bulgarian visitors are increasingly interested in discovering new destinations in the region. In fact, there is an increased demand for alternative forms of tourism, such as religious, cultural, and spa tourism. As part of the exhibition, a special presentation of Macedonian Cuisine was made, with an emphasis on the local products of each region.

“Central Macedonia remains a top destination for Bulgarian visitors, who prefer it not only for its beautiful beaches but also for the combination of experiences it offers. Bulgaria’s full integration into the Schengen Zone acts as an incentive for planning a visit to Central Macedonia, even as a city break,” said Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivasiliou.
