GNTO: Dynamic promotion of Santorini in the Italian market

Journalists and bloggers from Italy visited Santorini as part of two press trips organized by the GNTO Italy Service in collaboration with the Municipality of Santorini.

The aim of the press trips was to overall upgrade the image of Santorini in the Italian market, highlighting it as a sustainable, safe and multidimensional tourist destination, offering a multitude of unique experiences.

From June 20 to 23, the Cycladic island was visited by La Repubblica journalist Nicoletta Longhi, the editor of the tourist newspaper Turismo & Attualit?, Gaia Guarino, and the popular travel and food bloggers Mattia Lorenzetti and Guido Prosperi, accompanied by the executive of the Italian National Tourist Office, Antonella Papanikola

During their stay on the island, the Italian journalists and bloggers had the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum, where they were guided through the interesting temporary exhibition entitled “Cycladic Women: Unknown Stories of Women of the Cyclades”, the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, and the archaeological site. They also visited the famous Santo Wines winery, where they tasted the island’s famous wines and participated in a cooking class, discovering the secrets of the local cuisine.

Furthermore, from June 23 to 26, 2025, the renowned journalist Patrizio Nissirio, of the ANSA news agency and the website www.mondoemediterraneo.eu, traveled to Santorini.

Mr. Nissirio toured the island’s iconic natural beauties, attended local events, and got to know firsthand the possibilities that Santorini offers for rural tourism (trekking and hiking), its unique gastronomy, and its rich cultural heritage.

He also interviewed the mayor of Thira, Nikos Zorzos, during which the multi-thematic experiences offered by the island were highlighted, while promoting equality, respect for diversity, and accessibility for all.
