This year’s tourist season started with strong momentum for Araxos Airport, which is heading towards a new record in arrivals, recording an increase of 18.8% compared to 2024.
The most impressive is the explosive increase from France (+4,065%) and Italy (+316%), thanks to Volotea’s direct flights from Lille and Nantes, as well as Ryanair’s from Bari, which offer low prices and high tourist interest. The increase in bookings from Austria also stands out with +80%, strengthening Araxos’ position as a gateway to Achaia and Ilia.
Behind this positive image are coordinated actions of the Achaia Hoteliers Association and the Region of Western Greece, which are strategically investing in new markets. At the same time, the low fares for one-way flights to Italy make Araxos extremely accessible for travelers and tourists.
However, the challenge for the viability of the routes remains: good bookings must be accompanied by high occupancy rates and stability, so that Araxos can be established as an alternative, but a strong air hub in Southern Greece.
