Skiathos is claiming an important international distinction this year, as it is among the candidates for the title of “Most Desirable Island(s) in Europe” at this year’s Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, which will be awarded on Wednesday, November 5, at the National Gallery in London. With more than 200,000 individual votes expected this year, the competition is expected to be particularly intense in one of the largest travel awards in the United Kingdom.
The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, which are celebrating their 24th anniversary this year, are one of the most recognizable institutions in global tourism, honoring destinations and providers of travel experiences that authentically inspire travelers. Wanderlust readers vote for the most desirable Cities, Regions, Countries (within and outside Europe), Emerging Destinations, and favorite experiences in categories such as adventure, culture, nature, gastronomy, and sustainable tourism. The awards also include special categories for Airlines, Exploration Cruise,s and Travel Agencies.
Skiathos’ nomination enhances the island’s international profile and is an opportunity to showcase itself to an audience seeking authentic and unique travel experiences.
