The Ionian Islands “travel” to Rome – Targeted tourism campaign of the Region

With the central axis of the tourism extroversion strategy, the Region of the Ionian Islands “travels” to the Italian capital, implementing a targeted promotion campaign in the heart of Rome. The Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Yiannis Trepeklis, was on site in the “eternal city”, in order to closely monitor the implementation of the action and to make contacts to strengthen inter-regional and business relations.

As part of the campaign, five city buses in Rome were “dressed” with an impressive visual identity of the Ionian Islands, showcasing for 28 consecutive days the authentic and qualitative character of the islands in the historical and tourist center of the city.

“Italy is a strategic market for our islands,” the Regional Governor underlined, emphasizing that “targeted promotion, combined with the development of institutional and business partnerships, strengthens the position of the Ionian Islands on the international tourism map.” As he pointed out, the goal of the Ionian Islands is the continuous and methodical presence in traditional tourism markets, such as the Italian one, but also the opening to new, dynamic markets with technocratic planning.

The action is part of a broader plan for the Region’s international tourism presence, with an emphasis on the qualitative upgrade of the tourism product and the strengthening of the recognition of the Ionian Islands as a unique, sustainable destination.
