With an impressive 9-page tribute to Folegandros, the travel magazine of the French newspaper Le Figaro, “Figaro Magazine”, was released under the title: “The enchanted rock of the Cyclades”. Similarly, the French Le Parisien released a 4-page tribute to Kefalonia in the insert of the weekend edition “Le Parisien Weekend”.
The two tributes were the result of familiarization trips (press trip), organized by the Greek National Tourist Board of France Abroad Service:
19-27 May 2025, with the valuable assistance of the Municipality of Folegandros and the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Ms. Tillas Bali and
23-27 June 2025, with the valuable assistance of the Municipality of Argostoli and Ms. Marina Vergoti, Public Relations Manager of the Kefalonia Tourist Board.
The tribute to Folegandros was hosted in early August in the print and online edition of the popular French magazine Le Figaro Magazine with the travel editor Ms. Sarah Chevalley and the magazine’s photographer Stanislas Fautr? capturing, in text and photographs, “the rugged beauty of the island which captivates the traveler who seeks light and serenity”.
The aim of the familiarization trip to Folegandros was to promote the island to the French public as a place for alternative holidays and gentle activities “off the beaten track” as well as luxury tourism and sustainable development with respect for the authenticity and character of the Cycladic island away from mass tourism. The tribute to the region also covers the island’s history, cultural heritage, gastronomy, activities in nature (hiking routes, diving), suggestions for daily cruises to beaches not accessible by road, as well as its unique architecture.
Travel editor Dominique Savidan visited Kefalonia with the aim of promoting to the French public the “largest island in the Ionian Sea, free from mass tourism, offering breathtaking beaches, a national park in the mountains and friendly taverns”. The tribute acts as a travel guide, covering the island’s cultural heritage, contemporary art, wellness, gastronomy, tips for the island’s best beaches, restaurants and the art of living (art de vivre).

Le Figaro Magazine: It is the weekly insert magazine of the most popular newspaper in France, Le Figaro, with a circulation of 400,000 copies, which is aimed at an audience with high purchasing power and a higher socio-economic level (CSP+), aged between 25 and 60. The audience of Le Figaro Magazine is looking for new authentic travel experiences motivated by culture and activities in nature with a great interest in Greece. The travel category in the electronic version (https://www.lefigaro.fr/voyages), receives 21 million visitors per month of which 3 million are unique visitors (unique users).
Le Parisien: It is one of the most popular and prestigious newspapers in France, in print and online format, which circulates daily in approximately 280,000 copies, with its online edition receiving 14.7 million visitors per month (81 million views), and having 4.6 million followers on Facebook. It is aimed at an audience with high purchasing power and a higher socio-economic level (40% CSP+). The readership is mixed (54% men – 46% women), mainly urban, of which 54% are under 50 years old, with a higher educational level (53%).
