Increased interest from France (and) for alternative forms of tourism in Epirus

The geometric increase in the number of French tourists who will choose Epirus for their holidays in the coming years is an achievable goal, as confirmed by the participation of the Epirus Region once again in the IFTM International Tourism Fair, which took place in Paris from 23 to 25 September.

This optimistic assessment comes from the great interest shown for our region by visitors to the Region’s Pavilion, but also from the more than thirty B2B meetings held with Tour operators and travel agencies of the French tourist market, as well as other countries-markets.

It is noteworthy that great interest was expressed by travel companies specializing in “packages” with cultural interest and environmentally friendly destinations in our region, which is also the goal of the Region to extend the tourist season, spread tourists to many of our regions and for “four-season tourism in Epirus”.

Meetings were also held with journalists and public opinion leaders. In the context of the exhibition, which is one of the largest in Europe with the presence of representatives from approximately 160 countries, there were a series of important contacts, including with the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, the President of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Angeliki Varela, the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization Andreas Fiorentino, the Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization office in France Emmy Anagnostopoulou, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus Costas Koumis and the President of the French Cypriot Community Evagoras Mavromatis.

The Epirus Region pavilion hosted representatives of the Municipality of Ioannina, the Chamber of Thesprotia, the SAEK of Ioannina and tourism businesses of Epirus.
