Strengthening Greek-Peruvian Cooperation in Tourism | Kefalogiannis Meets with Ambassador

The Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Olga Kefalogiannis, was visited by the Ambassador of Peru to Greece, Mr. Arturo Arsiniega, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on joint actions that will promote sustainable development, as well as the promotion of the natural and cultural wealth of Greece and Peru.

The Minister proposed the updating of the Greece-Peru Cooperation Agreement in Tourism, which has been in force since 1998, through the signing of a Joint Action Plan. This new framework will define the modern priorities of cooperation, emphasizing the sustainability and preservation of the natural and cultural resources of the two countries.

Ms. Kefalogianni noted that the recent election of Greece and Peru to the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) for the period 2025-2029 creates favorable conditions for further deepening cooperation. At the same time, it was agreed to explore the possibility of a bilateral meeting between the Minister and her Peruvian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, on the sidelines of the 26th Session of the WTO General Assembly in Riyadh (7-11 November 2025), as well as the possibility of an official visit by Ms. Kefalogianni to Peru next year.

For his part, Mr. Arsiniega expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the Hellenic Tourism Organization (HTO), underlining the importance of the support provided to the promotion of Peruvian tourism beyond the American continent.

Finally, the Ambassador informed about the planned photographic exhibition of the Embassy of Peru in Athens, aiming at the tourist and cultural promotion of his country. The Minister of Tourism offered the Ministry’s assistance to the initiative and expressed interest in organizing a corresponding event to promote Greece in Lima, in collaboration with the Peruvian side.
