With the aim of highlighting the rich cultural heritage, gastronomic tradition, religious heritage and natural beauties of Lesvos in the Cypriot tourism market, the Cyprus National Tourist Office Service implemented a press trip to the island for two Cypriot journalists from 2 to 5 October.
The press trip was organized in collaboration with the North Aegean Region and was attended by journalists Andria Georgiou from the largest Cypriot publishing group “DIAS”, who writes articles on the websites www.sigmalive.com, www.checkincyprus.com and City Free Press, and Konstantinos Hambalis, who is also one of the most popular TK Tokers in Cyprus.
Emerging destination for Cypriot travelers
During their visit to Lesvos, Cypriot journalists had the opportunity to get to know the island’s important sights and traditional settlements, such as Mytilene, Molyvos, Petra and Sigri, where they were guided through the unique Petrified Forest of Lesvos, a UNESCO-protected Natural Monument, to tour monasteries and monuments of particular religious importance, and to taste authentic local recipes, products and ouzo from local producers.
Upon their departure, they expressed their satisfaction with the authenticity of the island, the hospitality of the residents and the variety of experiences it offers, noting that the island is an emerging and quality destination for Cypriot travelers.
The action is part of the GNTO’s initiatives to further strengthen the tourism promotion of Lesvos in the Cypriot market and the general promotion of alternative forms of tourism that our country offers to visitors.
