Canada “Embraces” Greek Tourism

With the participation of the leading travel agents and tour operators in the Ontario and Quebec markets, the two-day event, “Connecting Greece & Canada, Tourism Roadshow”, was completed, which took place in Toronto on November 10 and in Montreal on November 12, 2025.

The top event of Tourism Media & Events, with a focus on luxury tourism, was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the Embassy of Greece in Ottawa, while it was organized with the support of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT).

It is noted that Canada is becoming increasingly important for the Greek tourism market, constituting a strategic point of contact for the promotion of Greek luxury tourism and the strengthening of the inflow of high-income tourists.

In the context of the two events, targeted business (B2B) meetings were held with Canadian travel agents and tour operators, specialized in luxury tourism, as well as representatives of Canadian SMEs, with the aim of promoting the Greek tourism product and creating new commercial partnerships.

The two events were respectively welcomed by the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Mr. Ioannis Chatzantonakis, and the Consul General of Greece in Montreal, Mr. Nikolaos Karalekas. Also, the “Connecting Greece & Canada, Tourism Roadshow” was graced with the presence of the Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary of the Canadian Ministry of Labour and Family, Ms. Annie Koutrakis, the Economic and Trade Counsellor Mr. Emmanuel Markianos and the Cultural Counsellor of the Consulate General of Toronto, Dr. Marilena Griva.

It is noted that the “Connecting Greece & Canada, Tourism Roadshow” was attended by the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) North America Service, Mr. Konstantinos Charokopos.

At the two events, after the business meetings, a presentation was made of the Peloponnese Region by the representative Ms. Paraskevi Gialou, of the Central Macedonia Region by Ms. Argyro Papaioannou, an executive of the Tourism Directorate, Department of Tourism Promotion, and of the Crete Region by the Head of the Department of Tourism of the Heraklion Prefecture, Ms. Eleni Vougioukalaki.

The event was sponsored by the Region of Central Macedonia, the Region of Crete, the Region of Peloponnese, the Development Company of the Municipality of Athens – This is Athens and the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
