Rethymno is methodically expanding its footprint in the Polish market, through two targeted B2B actions that took place on November 12 and 13 in Katowice and Warsaw, as part of the Choose Greece event. In fact, the municipality was represented by the acting tourism advisor and president of the Tourism Development and Promotion Committee, Konstantinos Gasparakis, and the executive of the tourism department, Vangelis Archontakis.
Presentation with an emphasis on gastronomy and authentic experiences
Meanwhile, the representatives of the municipality presented a specially designed promotional video for the Polish audience, with narration in Polish and the central figure being chef Theo Vafeidis. The material highlighted the gastronomic identity of Rethymno, the local products and the experiences that Polish travelers consistently seek, offering a direct tool for connecting with tour operators and travel agents.
This was followed by a detailed presentation of the tourist product of Rethymno, with emphasis on the historical and cultural background, the natural environment, outdoor activities, gastronomy and the availability of quality accommodation options. At the same time, the possibilities of extending the tourist season were highlighted, a parameter that is of increasing interest to the Polish market.
New partnerships and packages for the period 2025–2026
As emphasized in a relevant announcement, the meetings paved the way for the development of new partnerships, the design of travel packages for 2025–2026 and the organization of familiarization trips to Rethymno. At the same time, it was agreed to implement follow-up actions and digital campaigns that will enhance the momentum of the meetings.
Poland is in the top 4 markets of Crete for 2025
As Mr. Gasparakis pointed out, Poland is recorded for 2025 as the 4th country in arrivals to Crete, an element that underlines its development speed. He noted that through a single mission the municipality achieved participation in two exhibitions, with productive meetings with tour operators, journalists and executives of the Polish market. At the same time, he focused on the growing interest of Polish visitors in alternative forms of tourism, especially gastronomic, but also on the strong demand from the MICE sector due to the economic and technological dynamics of the country.
In the near future, the analytical report of the mission will be presented to the Tourist Committee, along with the contact details of all contacts, in order to be utilized immediately. That said, Rethymno continues a consistent strategy of extroversion, strengthening its international presence and creating new benefits for the local economy.
