Aiming to highlight Greek quality tourism and develop collaborations with the tourism market of Southern Italy, the GNTO (Greek National Tourism Organization) Foreign Office in Italy participated in the four-day TRAVELEXPO Roadshow in Sicily from December 2 to 5, 2025. This marked the first official presence of GNTO at tourism events in Sicily, where the intention for ongoing collaboration to promote the Greek tourism product was established.

Workshop in Catania
As part of the Roadshow, a series of substantial meetings were held with tourism professionals in the cities of Catania (12/02), Ragusa (12/03), Agrigento (12/04), and Palermo (12/05). During these meetings, strong interest from Sicilian travel agents in Greece as a top holiday choice was confirmed.

Sicily as a High-Value Key Market
GNTOs participation in the roadshow underlines the strategic importance of Sicily as an emerging and highly promising market for year-round tourism development. The region has a high-income audience, with particular preference for quality services and authentic, personalized experiences, such as cultural and gastronomic tourism.
Sicilys proximity to Greece, combined with excellent air connectivity, makes our country highly accessible, even for short getaways. At the same time, shared cultural references and the strong travel culture of Sicilians enhance their interest in Greece as a cradle of culture and a destination rich in authentic experiences.
Strengthening School Tourism
On Saturday, December 6, 2025, representatives of the GNTO Italy Office presented Greek destinations to school principals in the Palermo and Agrigento areas, aiming to boost school tourism and develop organized educational trips to Greece.

As the Head of the GNTO Italy Office, Ms. Kyriaki Boulasidou, stated:
Our presence in Sicily confirms GNTOs commitment to strengthen cooperation with strategic regional markets. Sicily has an audience that seeks precisely the quality, history, and wealth of experiences that Greece offers. It is important to continue investing in initiatives that promote our country as the top destination for travelers with elevated expectations.
