The reconstitution of Lake Karla in Thessaly, one of the major European environmental projects and the largest in the Balkans, was inaugurated on Friday by European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu and Interior Minister Alexis Charitsis, ANA reports.
The regional governor of Thessaly Costas Agorastos said that the reconstituted Lake Karla hosts 181 bird species and 14 species of fish, and that the lake provides water to irrigate 15 hectares of farmland.
