Notaries public of Athens, Piraeus, and the Aegean and Dodecanese islands decided to extend their abstention from specific aspects of contract processing through January 8, according to a statement on Wednesday, ANA reports.
They will also hold a general assembly meeting on January 8 to further decide on their actions.
Their main demand is to protest the electronic filing of a property contract and to call for the revocation of a decision for an international online bid on the ‘E-file of Property Transfers’ project. In their statement, they said that they and paper contracts were not the cause of long lines in Greek Cadaster offices. Rather, they blamed the state for severe understaffing at land registry offices and contractors for cadaster databases set up “with numerous errors and omissions”.
