An important international conference on the management of visitable underwater cultural and natural heritage sites entitled “Dive in Blue Growth” will be held at the amphitheatre of the Acropolis Museum in Athens on October 16-18, ANA reports.
The conference, held by the project BLUEMED with the support of the community Med Sustainable Tourism, is held under the auspices of President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos.
The coastal areas and the islands of the Mediterranean rely on tourism and offer significant underwater natural and cultural goods, while their geomorphological features make them vulnerable to the repercussions of extreme climate conditions. These areas are facing a number of challenges, such as the lack of coordinated policies, methods and tools for the efficient support of sustainable economic growth, inefficient protection of underwater natural and cultural heritage and the inability to exploit it for sustainable tourism growth, as well as inadequate measures to address the repercussions of the climate change crisis.
Those interested in attending the conference can register at the website: https://bluemed.interreg-med.eu/index.php?id=9639.
