Chinese 'hoverbus of the future' carries 1,200 passengers to end traffic jams

An amazing ‘hoverbus of the future‘ could become a reality in the next year – and might even solve all our traffic jam problems.

The elevated bus can carry 1,200 people at a time and will travel above other road users, allowing cars to pass beneath.

Dubbed the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB), the vehicle’s design debuted at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo over the weekend.

The TEB was created by designers in China, where traffic issues are known to be notoriously problematic.

It is designed to increase the utilisation of road space – ultimately reducing congestion in the country.

The futuristic public transport vehicle is also thought to be a major cost saver.

Bai Zhiming, the engineer in charge of the TEB project told CCTV News : “With a carrying capacity of 1,200 people at a time, the TEB has the same functions as the subway while its cost of construction is less than one fifth of the subway.

“Its construction can be finished in one year.”

Trial operations of the bus are said to be beginning in the latter half of 2016 in Qinhuangdao City, in China’s northeastern Hebei province.
