New digital registry issues over 550 name registrations in Greece within two days

The Greek government’s new online platform where parents can register their children’s names has issued over 550 such certifications since it went live on Tuesday, ANA reports.

In the traditional manner, parents need to register the name of their child in the city registry and baptize it at a church, which issues a certificate of baptism. Under this new platform, they can register both the name of the child and its baptism and get issued a registry certificate for both.

Parents who have had a civil marriage can declare the child’s name together online as well. The registry enters the record and issues a certificate.

The online registration can be also completed by one parent in a single-parent household, and by a godparent in the case of baptism.
