Athens-Thessaloniki ultra-high speed telecoms network launched by IPTO's Grid Telecom

A new, ultra-high-speed telecommunication interconnection between the regions of Attica and Thessaloniki was announced on Wednesday by Grid Telecom, a subsidiary company of Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), ANA reports..

The new infrastructure allows the protected interconnection of Grid Telecom’s points of presence in the Digital Realty Data Centers in Attica and the Balkan Gate in Thessaloniki, with a round-trip delay time of less than 6 milliseconds for data transfer. The new connection also utilizes the data centers of Lancom, a Greek company specializing in data center services.
