The Rethymno Chamber is proceeding with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Foundation for Research and Technology (ITE), aiming to strengthen innovation and the interconnection of research with the business and tourism activity of the region. The decision was taken during the last meeting of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, on Wednesday.
The cooperation will utilize the knowledge capital and expertise of FORTH and the PRAXI Network, offering Chamber members access to financial tools, innovative services and international collaborations. Through information, advisory support, networking with research institutions and participation in competitive research programs, Rethymno businesses will have the opportunity to upgrade their productive activity and integrate new practices in tourism, gastronomy and culture.
At the same time, joint actions such as conferences, targeted workshops and business missions are planned, which will strengthen the position of the local business community on the innovation map, with particular emphasis on tourism development and the exploitation of the Cretan identity.
Within this framework, the Chamber’s participation in the Mylopotamos Festival “Tastes of Mylopotamos – Tastes of Crete. Gastronomy – Culture – Tourism”, which will take place from 13 to 18 October 2025 at the “Syntagma” Metro station, also falls within this framework. Through the support of local businesses, the comparative advantages of the region, the gastronomy and tradition of Mylopotamos are highlighted, elements that constitute crucial axes for enhancing the attractiveness of Crete’s tourism product.
