“Greece is increasingly emerging as a top destination for digital nomads, combining lifestyle, culture and strong connectivity,” says Apostolos Fotinakis, Chief Financial Officer of Blueground, in an interview with Tornos News, describing a dynamic that places our country at the center of the global remote work map.
Mr. Fotinakis explains that in recent years Greece has begun to attract an increasing number of professionals who work from anywhere, thanks to its solid digital infrastructure, improved air connectivity and competitive cost of living compared to other European capitals. At the same time, the introduction of a digital nomad visa, combined with new investments in telecommunications networks, has made the country friendlier to those who wish to combine work and quality of life.
“At Blueground, we are seeing increasing demand from digital nomads looking for fully furnished, flexible homes in Greece, which allow them to live comfortably and work efficiently,” says Mr. Fotinakis, adding that flexibility in housing is a critical factor for the country to attract and retain this audience.

The development of this new market, according to him, is not only about hospitality infrastructure but also an ecosystem of services that includes co-working spaces, transportation, cultural activities and local experiences. Already, several municipalities and tourism agencies are planning targeted campaigns to highlight the country as an ideal destination for remote work.
Mr. Foteinakis emphasizes that the reshaping of the way we travel and work creates new opportunities for Greece, a country that, as he notes, has all the resources to become a model of sustainable and humane approach in the global market of digital nomads. If this dynamic is properly exploited, it can lead to the formation of a new model of development, beyond the limits of the traditional tourist season.
